• The PMV is a prescription
device requiring a doctor's order to purchase.
• There are several ways
to order a PMV:

Through a Home Respiratory Equipment Company: with a prescription, your home
equipment company can order the PMV for you and bill your insurance company. If
the equipment company is unfamiliar with the PMVs please provide them with our
phone number and we will contact them to assist them with ordering the valve.
Please be sure your prescription includes the description of the valve your
doctor recommends.

Through a Physician: your physician can order the PMV for you. However, many
physicians are unable to directly bill your insurance company and may ask you
for payment in advance. You would then submit your receipts to your insurance
company for reimbursement.

Through a Hospital: if the person utilizing or requiring the PMV is in a
medical facility, the facility can order the PMV. The hospital will bill the
insurance company along with the other hospital costs.
• The PMV cannot be purchased
directly by non-medical personnel or companies. It is important
to know which PMV product to order as it is a prescription
product and is not returnable.
• The PMVs are Medicare
and Medicaid reimbursable using the prosthetic billing code
L8501. Many states children's services also provide reimbursement.
Because the PMVs are Medicare and Medicaid reimbursable,
many insurance companies will reimburse following these
government guidelines.
