Part One: Starting Research in a Clinical Setting

Course Description:
In this podcast, we speak with Dr. Amy Freeman-Sanderson and Laura Brooks, M.Ed., CCC-SLP, BCS-S to discuss how SLPs may implement research in their clinical practice. An emphasis is placed on considerations for research design and publishing. We describe how to implement research and make data collection a standard of daily practice. The need for research and its impact on care are also discussed. After completing this course, you will be able to:

  1. Describe how “research” happens without knowing or planning.
  2. List two ways that research could be more formalized and used in daily practice.
  3. Describe the importance of research and the impact on patient care.
