These 3-hour courses focus on a particular topic, including mechanical ventilation, ethics, and considerations for complex diagnoses. They cover these topics in depth and present research that supports any guidance or recommendations provided in the workshop. These courses are provided by Clinical Specialists in respiratory therapy or speech-language pathology. Our live workshops are interactive and allow time for Q&#038;A. <!-- They will also be available in a recorded format for the holiday season (Nov 6 \u2013 Dec 31). --><\/p>\n<p>Promoting a multidisciplinary approach, the workshops provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Steps and strategies for assessing use of the no-leak bias-closed position Valve<\/li>\n<li>Discussions about patients both with and without mechanical ventilation<\/li>\n<li>Techniques for improving communication, swallowing, and secretion management; restoring pressures and voicing; and enhancing quality of life<\/li>\n<li>Assessment and placement criteria for Valve use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The workshops are provided in both a live and recorded format, as noted. She now offers comprehensive training, in-service programs, and clinical support for healthcare professionals. Gabriela is an invited speaker for educational institutions, state and national conferences, and the Better Breather\u2019s Club and ALS support groups. She also contributes to the field by authoring clinical articles and white papers, including peer-reviewed, on topics such as ALS progression, neonatal tracheostomy, speaking valves, and respiratory care strategies.
